Investigations

The AER is responsible for monitoring compliance with the National Electricity Law and National Electricity Rules and with the National Gas Law and National Gas Rules. The AER may undertake detailed investigations of specific market events or unusual market behaviour.

Gas investigation reports



A report into the events of Sunday 10 August 2008, when there was a plant outage at the Moomba production facility. The production facility was not fully restored until Wednesday 13 August 2008.

Electricity investigation reports



A report into compliance with the planning and consultation requirements for a new large transmission asset by TransGrid in the development of a line between Dumaresq and Lismore on the NSW far north coast.

A report into compliance of AGL Energy Limited (AGL) with the good faith rebidding provision of the Electricity Rules. The investigation focused on rebidding of Torrens Island Power Station (in South Australia) during February 2008.

A report into the events of 16 January, when bushfires caused the main transmission links into Victoria to fail. The transmission failure interrupted around a quarter of all Victorian customers' electricity supplies.
