The Australian Energy Regulator is Australia’s independent national energy market regulator. It commenced operation on 1 July 2005. The AER is a separate legal entity and part of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) under Part IIIAA of the Trade Practices Act 1974.
