On 1 January 2008 the AER assumed responsibility for the economic regulation of distribution network service providers (DNSPs) in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
The key elements of the AER’s responsibilities are to develop and publish transitional guidelines, models and schemes, approve cost allocation methods, make distribution determinations and approve each DNSP’s annual pricing proposals. Current and completed reviews undertaken by the AER under the National Electricity Rules are set out below.
