The AER will undertake the next distribution determination for Aurora Energy commencing 1 July 2012. The AER’s distribution determination will specify the revenue or prices for Aurora Energy’s electricity distribution services. In anticipation of its distribution determination, the AER is required to prepare and publish a framework and approach paper by 30 November 2010. The framework and approach paper will outline the likely classification of Aurora Energy’s services, the form of control to apply to those services and the likely application of the AER’s incentive schemes and guidelines to Aurora Energy.
Final framework and approach for Aurora Energy
On 29 November 2010, the AER published the framework and approach paper for the 2012-17 distribution determination for Aurora Energy.
The framework and approach paper sets out the likely approach to the classification of distribution services provided by Aurora Energy and states the form of control that will apply to those distribution services in the forthcoming regulatory control period. It also sets out the application of a service target performance incentive scheme, efficiency benefits sharing scheme and demand management incentive scheme.
The AER released its preliminary positions paper on Aurora Energy on 25 June 2010. The preliminary positions paper outlines the AER’s preliminary positions on the framework and approach for Aurora Energy. The deadline for submissions on the preliminary positions paper was Monday 9 August 2010.
