International

The AER actively participates in international meetings and discussions to contribute to the AER’s vision and achievement of our goals, and the broader goals of the ACCC.

The AER is a member of the Energy Intermarket Surveillance Group (EISG). The EISG is the peak and only international group that provides for co-ordination between energy market surveillance and enforcement bodies, such as the AER. The AER also participates in international regulators forums such as the World Forum on Energy Regulation and has staff exchange agreements with overseas energy regulators.

The key benefits to the AER relate to sharing of knowledge and experience. Our international activities also help to emphasise the AER’s role as a world-leader in energy market regulation, monitoring and enforcement. The Australian energy arrangements are consistently held up as a model for emerging markets.
