On 28 September 2021, Essential Energy submitted a cost pass through application to the AER seeking to recover costs in relation to the 2019-20 bushfires in New South Wales. The bushfires burnt more than 3.4 million hectares in Essential Energy's network area and interrupted supply to over 104,000 customers.
Essential Energy is seeking an increase in allowed revenue of $33.8 million to recover the costs arising from the 2019-20 bushfires. This includes costs associated with emergency response, vegetation management, asset rectification and network rebuild.
We invite energy consumers and other interested parties to make submissions on Essential Energy's 2019-20 bushfires pass through application by close of business Tuesday, 2 November 2021.
