Overview

On 16 December 2016, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an application from Park Avenue at South Bank LBIP 101696 (Park Avenue) for an individual exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law.

Background

On 4 November 2016, the AER accepted an application from Park Avenue for an individual exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law to sell energy at 410 Stanley Street, South Brisbane QLD.

Submissions on Park Avenue's application closed on 9 December 2016. No submissions were received.

Proposed variation of conditions

Exemptions relating to the sale or supply of energy to small customers have conditions relating to dispute resolution. In March 2018 the AER amended its network and retail guidelines to include energy ombudsman scheme membership as a core condition.  Retail and network exemption holders that sell or supply energy to residential customers in South Australia, the ACT and New South Wales must now join the relevant ombudsman scheme.
