The AER participates in international forums to contribute to the AER’s vision and achievement of our goals, and the broader goals of the ACCC.
The AER is a member of the Energy Intermarket Surveillance Group (EISG), the peak international group for coordination between energy market surveillance and enforcement bodies. The AER also participates in international regulators forums such as the World Forum on Energy Regulation and has staff exchange agreements with overseas energy regulators.
The benefits to the AER relate to sharing of knowledge and experience. Our international activities also help to emphasise the AER’s role as a world-leader in energy market regulation, monitoring and enforcement. The Australian energy arrangements are consistently held up as a model for emerging markets.
