If you think your energy bill is high, before contacting your retailer it is useful to ask yourself these questions:
- Did you use more energy in this billing period? For example, using your heating or cooling more or having extra guests stay can increase your bill.
- Did you owe an amount from the previous billing period?
- Did the retailer estimate this bill or your previous bill?
- Did your retailer notify you of a change in the cost of your service?
Talk to your retailer if you are still unsure why your bill has increased.
