Our role
Our public issues register tracks and reports on issues identified by stakeholders which relate to binding requirements of the system planning guidelines or the National Electricity Rules (NER).
This register serves as an additional avenue for stakeholders to raise concerns about how the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) are developing the ISP or how actionable ISP project proponents conducting the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) with respect to the NER or our Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) guidelines. Stakeholders should use the register after they have raised their concerns with AEMO or the project proponent, and they believe their concerns have not been adequately addressed.
We will undertake further investigation of an issue on behalf of a stakeholder where the identified issue is about AEMO’s or the RIT-T proponent’s compliance with the requirements of the NER and our guidelines in relation to ISP or RIT-T processes.
How to raise an issue
Submissions to the AER on an issue relating to the ISP or to an actionable RIT-T can be sent via email to systemplanningregulationaer [dot] gov [dot] au (systemplanningregulation[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au).
Please note: Those wishing to submit confidential information are requested to clearly identify any information that may be part of a confidentiality claim and to also provide a non-confidential version of the submission.
Submissions must include the following information:
Our process for publishing an issue
Issues must be raised with AEMO or the RIT-T proponent first. If we consider that AEMO or the RIT-T proponent have adequately addressed the issue or that it is irrelevant, we will take no further action. We will also notify relevant parties of this position.
Please note: We are not required to publish a determination or otherwise assess the quality of the response from AEMO or the RIT-T proponent.
For those requiring further investigation, we use the following process:
