On 27 November 2020, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) published its gas transmission draft decision for APTNT's Amadeus Gas Pipeline 2021–26 access arrangement commencing 1 July 2021.
APT Pipelines (Northern Territory) Pty Limited (APTNT) is a subsidiary of APA Group who owns and operates the Amadeus Gas Pipeline. The Amadeus Gas Pipeline plays a major role in energy supply in the Northern Territory, transporting natural gas to Darwin, Alice Springs and regional centres, principally for power generation.
APTNT operates under a price cap. Our draft decision sets out the maximum prices APTNT can collect from gas consumers through transmission tariffs from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026.
The draft decision supports APTNT’s proposal to recover $93.8 million from its customers from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026. This is $24.1 million (21.6 per cent) lower than the total revenue we approved in our 2016–21 decision.
This is a draft decision and is subject to change due to a range of factors including the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and submissions received through consultation.
APTNT is expected to submit a revised proposal by 13 January 2020.
Stakeholders will be invited to make submissions on both the AER’s draft decision and APTNT’s upcoming revised proposal by 17 February 2021.
The AER final decision will be made by 30 April 2021.
We invite energy consumers and other interested parties to make submissions on both our draft decision and APTNT’s revised proposal (once submitted) by 17 February 2021.
Submissions should be emailed to: email@example.com.
