The smart meter rollout aims to modernise the energy grid and improve energy efficiency.
At the AER, we're responsible for monitoring retailer compliance to ensure they are meeting their obligations in communicating with you about the rollout, including your smart meter installation and any changes to your tariff structure that occur as a result.
We approve legacy meter replacement plans, monitor compliance, and enforce rules to protect consumers.
