On 18 January 2018, Comet Ridge to Wallumbilla Loop was originally granted non-scheme Category 1 and Category 2 exemptions under Part 23 of the NGR.
Gas pipeline regulation reforms to the National Gas Law and National Gas Rules were proclaimed in March 2023. Comet Ridge to Wallumbilla Loop's Category 2 exemption under Part 23 was taken to be a Category 1 exemption under Part 10 as it is a no third party access pipeline.
