On 12 July 2024, Central Ranges Pipeline Pty Ltd was granted a Category 2 exemption under Part 10 of the NGR for the Tamworth Distribution Network (also known as Central Ranges Network) on the basis that the Network is a single user pipeline.
On 5 February 2026, Central Ranges Pipeline Pty Ltd sought revocation of the above exemption as it was transferring ownership of the Network to Tamworth Gas Network Pty Ltd. On the same day, Tamworth Gas Network applied for a Category 2 exemption for the Network.
On 31 March 2026, the AER revoked Central Ranges Pipeline Pty Ltd’s Category 2 exemption and granted a Category 2 exemption to Tamworth Gas Network Pty Ltd for the Tamworth Distribution Network.
