Wide Bay Distribution Network was originally granted 5 year Category 2 and Category 3 non-scheme pipeline exemptions under Part 23 on 13 December 2017. On 30 November 2022, these were extended until 12 December 2027.
Gas pipeline regulation reforms to the National Gas Law and National Gas Rules were proclaimed in March 2023. Wide Bay Distribution Network's Category 3 exemption under Part 23 was taken to be a Category 2 exemption under Part 10 as the AER was satisfied its maximum daily capacity is less than 10TJ/day.
