Retail performance reporting procedures and guidelines

We publish the retail performance reporting procedures and guidelines (the Guidelines), which set out the manner and form in which energy retailers must provide performance data to the AER.

Templates

The AER collects data under the Guidelines through a flat CSV retail template. 

This is accompanied by a CEO Letter signed by the retailer Chief Executive Office or a Delegate of the CEO. These templates have been in use since Q1 2025-26.

AER portal

To submit your information and data, your completed retail template will need to be uploaded to the AER Portal. 

To assist you in using the AER Portal, a retailer portal user guide will be made available shortly.
