Due to reforms, the AER is now responsible for determining the regulatory treatment of gas pipelines. The AER published a final Guide on 12 September 2023.

The gas pipeline information disclosure guidelines, price reporting guidelines and accompanying templates are required under the new Part 10 & 18A of the NGR.

The Rate of Return Instrument (the Instrument) sets out the approach by which we will estimate the rate of return, and comprises the return on debt and the return on equity, as well as the value of imputation credits. We publish a new Instrument every 4 years that will bind all regulatory determinations in the subsequent 4 years.

The STPIS is to provide incentives to TNSPs to improve or maintain a high level of service for the benefit of participants in the NEM.

On 27 March 2025, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) made a rule change removing the requirement to publish transmission information guidelines.
