Wide Bay Pipeline was originally granted a 5 year Category 3 non-scheme pipeline exemptions under Part 23 on 13 December 2017. On 30 November 2022, this exemption was extended until 12 December 2027.
Gas pipeline regulation reforms to the National Gas Law and National Gas Rules were proclaimed in March 2023. Wide Bay Pipeline's Category 3 exemption under Part 23 was taken to be a Category 2 exemption under Part 10 as the AER was satisfied its nameplate rating is less than 10TJ/day.
