On 3 June 2022, Tallawarra Lateral Pipeline was granted non-scheme Category 1 and Category 2 exemptions under Part 23 of the NGR.
Gas pipeline regulation reforms to the National Gas Law and National Gas Rules were proclaimed in March 2023. Tallawarra Lateral Pipeline's Category 2 exemption under Part 23 was taken to be a Category 1 exemption under Part 10 as it is a no third-party access pipeline.
