Strengthening the Prohibiting Energy Market Misconduct provisions in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 Consultation Paper

On 6 February, the AER provided a submission to the Strengthening the Prohibiting Energy Market Misconduct (PEMM) provisions in the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 consultation paper. The paper explores the basis for potential reforms following the Final Report on the legislative review of the effectiveness of PEMM Act. The AER submission outlines support for the transfer of the NEM inquiry function and PEMM enforcement and compliance responsibilities from the ACCC to the AER.
