The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking expressions of interest from stakeholders to join the next Consumer Challenge Panel (CCP).
The key objective of the CCP is to provide independent, expert advice on issues important to consumers throughout the network regulatory proposals process. Members do this through observing select meetings between network businesses, consumers and other stakeholders; engaging directly with the AER; and providing written, strategic advice.
Following a recent review of our consumer panels, we updated the scope of the CCP to place greater emphasis on constructive challenge of the AER to ensure decisions reflect the long-term interests of consumers.
The updated Terms of Reference provide full details on the CCPs’ scope, including the key areas of interest for the panel.
How to apply
The next cohort of the CCP will commence in September 2026 and run for three years, with the possibility of extension to August 2031.
If you are interested in becoming a CCP member, please review the contractual information, including remuneration details, on AusTender and submit your application by 3PM AEST, Monday, 3 August 2026.
We are looking for applicants with engineering, economics, regulatory or consumer advocacy experience, who want to inform regulatory decisions so that they reflect the long-term interests of consumers.
