On 22 May 2026, the AER published a joint application for processing from ZEN Energy Retail Pty Ltd and ZEN Energy Retail Holdings Pty Ltd to transfer  ZEN Energy Retail Pty Ltd's electricity retailer authorisation to ZEN Energy Retail Holdings Pty Ltd under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law).

Invitation for submissions on the application closed on 19 June 2026. Two submissions received are available for publication.

On 30 June 2026, the AER granted an application for the transfer of electricity retailer authorisation from ZEN Energy to ZEN Energy Retail Holdings Pty Ltd under the Retail Law, subject to the satisfaction of conditions imposed by the AER. With the AER’s revocation of ZEN Energy's electricity retailer authorisation on 6 July 2026, under section 142 of the Retail Law, the transfer of electricity retailer authorisation from ZEN Energy to ZEN Energy Retail Holdings did not proceed. This means that neither ZEN Energy nor ZEN Energy Retail Holdings currently hold an electricity retailer authorisation under the Retail Law.
