On 20 March 2025, AusNet Services submitted an application to the AER under clause 6A.7.3(a1)(1) of the National Electricity Rules (NER), seeking a determination on its phasor measurement unit (PMU) cost pass through application. The application relates to a notice issued by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) under clause 4.11.1(d) of the NER requiring replacement of the Victorian High Speed Monitoring network with PMUs.
The AER assessed the application under clause 6A.7.3(j) and is satisfied the proposed pass through amount meets the requirements of the NER. The AER has determined that AusNet Services should recover the approved pass through amount in the 2026–27 regulatory year. The approved positive pass through amount is $0.03 million (nominal, smoothed).
