On 7 September 2026, the AER granted a ring-fencing waiver to Jemena from clauses 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 of the Ring-fencing Guideline (electricity distribution). The waiver, valid until 30 June 2031, allows Jemena to provide distribution asset rental services for electric vehicle charging infrastructure using its existing staff, offices and branding. Jemena will continue to own, operate and maintain the distribution assets, while third parties will own and operate the charging infrastructure.
