On 30 September 2026, the AER published AEMO's Forecasting Best Practice Compliance report consistent with the option in section 5.2 of our Forecasting Best Practice (FBP) guidelines.
AEMO provided us with the 2026 Forecasting Best Practice Compliance report on 25 September 2026.
This compliance report explored AEMO's assessment of compliance of its actions to the requirements and considerations of our FBP guidelines.
Background
Under our FBP guidelines, AEMO should provide us with a report that outlines how AEMO has met the requirements for its forecasting activities following the publication of each Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO).
Our guidelines provide guidance for AEMO's forecasting practices and processes as they relate to the IASR, the ISP and reliability forecasts such those as included in the ESOO. Our guidelines also place certain, binding requirements and considerations that AEMO must address in these compliance reports as per clause 5.22.5(j) of the National Electricity Rules (NER).
