Our report, Facilitating CER in Australia’s two-way energy system, is our third Export services network performance report.
This year, our report explores how the 14 electricity distributors we regulate, are facilitating and optimising some of the new and emerging distributed energy resources (DER) and consumer energy resources (CER) technology into their distribution networks.
This report focuses on the facilitation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, vehicle to grid services and community-scale batteries. The report also provides the recent industry activity and developments in relation to policy and planning for the facilitation of CER.
The report details the current state of play of these new technologies as reported by electricity DNSPs, and the process to install, connect and operate the new technologies on their distribution networks. This report also provides the electricity DNSPs’ visibility of the new DER/CER technologies and their current methods and future plans to facilitate the new technologies, whilst managing network constraints and other system limitations.
This report is primarily based on information provided by electricity DNSPs. It is not intended as a comprehensive review, or AER analysis of the emerging technologies covered in the report.
This year’s report does not include the export services network performance data provided in the 2023 and 2024 reports. This is due to the export services network data now being reported by DNSPs through Annual Information Orders, which is not available in time for the publication of the 2025 report.
The export service network data for the 2025 regulatory year will be reported in the first half of the 2026 calendar year.
