Overview

M2 Energy Pty Ltd, trading as Dodo Power and Gas (Dodo Power and Gas), Origin Energy Electricity Limited (Origin Energy), and EnergyAustralia Pty Ltd (EnergyAustralia) have paid penalties totalling $140 000 following the issue of seven infringement notices by the AER.

The AER alleged that Dodo Power and Gas, Origin Energy and EnergyAustralia failed to promptly appoint a Metering Coordinator (MC) upon notification that a customer’s meter was faulty in breach of clause 11.86.7(h) of the National Electricity Rules.

The total of $140 000 was paid:

  • Dodo Power and Gas  paid $20 000 (one infringement notice)
  • Origin Energy paid $40 000 (two infringement notices)
  • EnergyAustralia paid $80 000 (four infringement notices).
