AusNet Services' (AusNet) cost allocation method (CAM) governs the manner in which AusNet is allowed to allocate costs to the distribution services it provides. Allocation of costs between services is required to accurately represent costs incurred in providing the respective services. This prevents cross-subsidisation between distribution services and other services AusNet provides.
On 14 July 2025 the AER approved the revised CAM submitted by AusNet in accordance with chapter 6 of the National Electricity Rules. Amendments to AusNet’s previously approved CAM are limited to editorial changes reflecting amended staff position titles and the like, updated ownership and operational structure details, and descriptive (but not methodological) changes to its cost allocators. Its revised CAM replaces AusNet’s previous CAM approved by the AER in 2019.
