On 22 October 2019, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved a gas retailer authorisation application from OVO Energy Pty Ltd (OVO Energy) under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law). OVO Energy is now authorised to retail gas as and when the Retail Law is adopted in each participating jurisdiction.
Surrender of authorisation
On 7 September 2026, the AER approved an application from OVO Energy Pty Ltd to surrender its gas retailer authorisation.
The surrender took effect on 11 September 2026.
