The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) undertook a review into how the National Electricity Market (NEM) can better support efficient demand-side participation. The Power of Choice review recommended various changes to the way the NEM operates. These recommendations have been reflected in a number of rule changes proposed by the Standing Council on Energy and Resources. The AEMC’s consideration of these rule changes is currently ongoing.

The AER will contribute to these ongoing reviews of the rules as an interested stakeholder. We will have a role in implementing and enforcing the rules as they are made by the AEMC.
