The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has today published our review of the Australian Energy Marker Operator’s (AEMO) Draft 2026 Integrated System Plan (ISP).

The AER provides oversight of the ISP by ensuring that AEMO’s processes are robust, credible and transparent. This review outlines whether AEMO has adequately explained how it has derived key inputs and assumptions and how they have contributed to the outcomes in the Draft ISP.

The AER’s report notes the increased size and scope of the Draft 2026 ISP and additional novel considerations that AEMO must incorporate in this and future ISPs. The report also identifies a number of issues that we expect to be addressed by AEMO in an addendum to the Draft 2026 ISP where the data and processes to determine inputs, assumptions or presented figures are not adequately clear. Transparency in understanding AEMO’s processes and explanations in developing the Draft 2026 ISP are important to improve stakeholder confidence in the ISP.

In accordance with National Electricity Rules clause 5.22.13, the AER is required to publish a review report within one month after AEMO published the Draft 2026 ISP.
