The AER has today made Annual Information Orders (Orders) to apply to regulated electricity networks for 2026-27 and to 2027-28.
These Orders set out the annual reporting obligations for regulated electricity distribution networks, transmission networks, and interconnectors to provide us with information and data that supports our regulatory functions.
The 2026-28 Orders were made using our information gathering powers under the National Electricity Law and are an update to the Orders we made in 2024 for the 2024-2028 period.
Our updates include:
- clarifying ambiguous requirements
- rectifying information specification errors
- updating definitions in the glossary
- addressing issues requiring an exemption from the 2024-28 Orders
- helping streamline the reporting process by minimising the need for additional guidance.
Once we’ve collected the information from regulated businesses, we will publish non-confidential information to support transparent regulatory processes and ensure stakeholders can access information on issues affecting their interests.
We aim to publish annual information responses in December each year.
