Overview

Guideline

On 30 November 2016, the Australian Energy Regulator (the AER) published its Ring-fencing Guideline for electricity distribution. The Guideline will replace State-based jurisdictional Guidelines. We also published an explanatory statement to assist in understanding the Guideline and to explain why we have reached the positions set out in the Guideline.

The Ring-fencing Guideline may result in DNSPs submitting waiver applications. We will develop this web site to enable public disclosure of waiver applications and transparent stakeholder consultation processes.

Under the Guideline, DNSPs will also be required to establish registers for approved waivers, information provision and staff sharing. We may add links to those registers on this website.
