On 30 April 2019, we released our final decision on Essential Energy's electricity distribution determination for the 2019-24 regulatory control period. Our final decision is set out in the Overview and accompanying attachments. As a number of issues were settled at the draft decision stage or required only minor updates, we have not prepared all attachments. In these circumstances our draft decision reasons form part of this final decision.

On 25 March 2021, the AER revoked the 30 April 2019 determination and substituted it with a new determination to correct an error in the control mechanisms attachment to facilitate an appropriate transition to the latest version of the service target performance incentive scheme (STPIS).

On 22 February 2022, the AER revoked and substituted the 2019–24 Essential Energy distribution determination. This involved revisions being made to the STPIS and control mechanisms attachments. This is due to Essential Energy notifying the AER about errors in its reported performance data under the STPIS. More specifically, the reported data inadvertently included supply outages that should not have been reported under the STPIS because they were exempt under the scheme.  All other aspects of the determination remain as per the AER’s 30 April 2019 final determination.
