On 29 April 2026, Transgrid notified the AER that a material change in circumstances (MCC) has occurred for the Meeting System Strength Requirements in NSW regulatory investment test for transmission in accordance with clause 5.16.4(z3)(4) of the National Electricity Rules. The notice identified that the primary cause of the MCC was a material increase of more than 30% in the cost to procure synchronous condensers which was included in its regulatory investment test for transmission as a reopening trigger.
