The AER collects information from regulated businesses to undertake its functions.
Until 2023-24 the AER used Regulatory Information Notices (RINs) to collect annual information about each regulated business.
On 5 April 2024, the AER made Annual Information Orders (Orders) applying to electricity distribution and transmission networks, and interconnectors. We will rely on these Orders for annual information collections from the 2024-25 reporting year.
The AER relies on RINs for annual information collections for regulated gas transmission and distribution pipelines.
The AER publishes non-confidential annual information responses received from businesses of regulated pipelines to support effective and transparent regulatory process and ensure that stakeholders can access information on issues affecting their interests.
Information is also collected from businesses at the time of their access arrangement and is available via the Determinations and Access arrangements web page.
