DMS contacts

Hopefully most of you are packing up for the festive season with your families. I thought that I would send you a short update to end the year.

Disputes

The last dispute was Wemen which was resolved mid year. Please let me know if you need another copy of that report. There are no other public matters to report on. I am currently updating the dispute resolution portion of the web site. This should be complete by February.

Training

I had a lovely meeting of DMS contacts in October in Brisbane. We spent 3 hours on refresher training for Brisbane DMS contacts. It was well attended thanks to Ergon who arranged the logistics and sent their regulatory team. With my other hat on Resolve also ran training for Ergon on dealing with “Confronting Conversations”.

I have had a few requests for DMS training. The survey I sent round only prompted 4 responses all of which were for a self paced type of model. I will arrange a meet and greet Sydney at Christies, 25 February – around 11.30am for an overview session and light lunch. Please diarise the date.

Updates

You will see that I am slowly putting up a Gas Rules dispute resolution portion of the AER website. For those of you who are interested in the gas market I have called for DMS equivalents to be nominated by each organisation. Babcock and TRUenergy have obliged. I would appreciate everyone else just ensuring that you check in to ensure that you have a counterpart as a gas DMS person and that you urge them to contact me.

You may also be interested to know that the matter between TRUenergy, v VENCorp and others went on appeal to the Supreme Court of Victoria. The appeal provisions are similar to those in the electricity Rules. This was the first appeal of an energy panel determination and important from that point of view. Justice Cavanough upheld the Panel’s determination.

I have learned from experience that this is a busy time in the markets especially if it is hot! I have arranged to be around in case there is a dispute. Anyone needing to chat please call on the mobile. I will be away from 7-18 January and then visiting Melbourne, in case any of you would like a chat.

Season’s Greetings. Have a wonderful festive season and a happy new year. All the best for the new decade.

Cheers
