Overview

Draft decision

On 20 December 2021, the AER released the draft Better Bills Guideline for consultation.

The Guideline will simplify energy bills, helping consumers to compare offers and understand how much they pay for their energy.

The draft Guideline has been informed by testing with more than 14,000 consumers as well as input from retailers, consumer groups and energy ombudsman schemes. The draft Guideline is accompanied by the Notice of Draft Instrument, which explains the development of the draft Guideline.

Consultation on the draft Guideline and Notice of Draft Instrument closed on 31 January 2022.

The Better Bills Guideline is a key action in the AER’s draft Consumer Vulnerability Strategy, also released on 20 December for consultation.
