Retailer exit

There are several ways a retailer can cease energy selling. A retailer can voluntarily surrender a retailer authorisation or transfer it to another entity. If a retailer fails, the Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) scheme ensures continuity of supply for affected customers.

Voluntary retailer exit

Retailers considering ceasing energy selling are encouraged to start thinking about and planning your exit from the market as early as possible. Find out more about surrendering or transferring a retailer authorisation.

Retailer failure

The RoLR scheme is designed to ensure that in the event of a retailer failing customers continue to receive electricity and/or gas supply. Find out more about registering as a RoLR and current participants.
