A guide for AEMO
The Forecasting Best Practice (FBP) guidelines set out how the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) must develop its forecasting practices and processes for use in developing the Integrated System Plan (ISP).
The FBP guidelines are published in accordance with clause 4A.B.5 of the National Electricity Rules.
AEMO can also use the guidelines in developing its forecasts for use in its other publications, such as the Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO).
Specifically, the guidelines:
- provide guidance and binding requirements on how AEMO communicates its research and associated publications in the ISP process

- set out principles that are relevant to developing reliability forecasts and forecasts for the ISP that may also be suitable for more general application

- ensure AEMO’s forecasting practices and processes are robust as they relate to a reliability forecast, the ISP, and an ISP update

- aim to promote transparency in AEMO’s forecasting practices and processes
