Draft decision

On 28 September 2023 we released our draft decisions for TasNetworks revenue determination for the 2024–29 period, commencing 1 July 2024. TasNetworks now has until 30 November 2023 to respond to the respective draft decisions in a revised proposal.

On 10 October 2023, we held the predetermination conference to discuss our draft decisions for TasNetworks. The presentation slides are available here.

Interested stakeholders are invited to provide written submissions on the draft decisions and revised proposals by 19 January 2024.

TasNetworks proposal

On 31 January 2023 TasNetworks submitted its 2024–29 Regulatory Proposal to the AER. The proposal sets out the revenue TasNetworks proposes to collect from its consumers through distribution and transmission network charges over the 2024–29 regulatory control period.

On 28 March 2023, the AER published an Issues Paper highlighting some of the key elements of TasNetworks' proposal.

A public forum for interested parties was held on 4 April 2023, we have published the joint presentation pack.

Submissions on TasNetworks' 2024–29 Regulatory proposal, our Issues Paper, and our proposed Negotiated distribution service criteria closed on 12 May 2023 and are now available on the website.

Background

TasNetworks is an electricity distribution and transmission network service provider. Its next five year regulatory control period for both networks commence on 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2029 (2024–29).

Under the NER, TasNetworks is required to submit its regulatory proposals to us by 31 January 2023. However, prior to that date, the NER require us to review the current F&A paper that applies to TasNetworks and decide whether to amend or replace it.

In June 2022, TasNetworks submitted the methodology it proposes to use to prepare the forecasts of operating expenditure and capital expenditure that form part of its regulatory proposal and the AER, in July 2022, published the final framework for TasNetworks.
