On 30 June 2026, the AER made Annual Information Orders (Orders) applying to regulated electricity distribution and transmission networks, and interconnectors.
We have published our decision to make the Orders, which sets out our consideration of key components of the Orders (such as the period for which they will apply, and the information requirements).
The data submission workbooks (Appendix A to the Order) set out the data requirements and are provided below.

On 30 June 2026, the AER issued an annual reporting Regulatory Information Notice (Notice) for Power and Water Corporation (the electricity distributor in the Northern Territory). The Notice applies for two years, covering the reporting periods 2026-27 to 2027-28.
Power and Water Corporation is not subject to the Annual Information Order for electricity distributors. Power and Water Corporation was excluded from the Annual Information Order for electricity distributors, for the reasons set out in AER Decision - Annual Information Orders - 2024 (section 3.2).

The AER has provided a glossary of terms and definitions to support interpretation of the Orders. The version of the glossary to be used with the 2026-28 Orders is AER Networks Glossary, version 3, as provided below.
The AER has provided electricity distributors, TNSPs, Interconnectors and Power and Water Corporation with prefilled basis of preparation files and supporting information requirements lists.
Prefilled basis of preparation files have data tables listed to help NSPs understand the basis of preparation requirements, as set out in section 5 of the Orders and the Power and Water Corporation Notice.
The supporting information requirements lists are provided to help NSPs document their responses to the supporting information requirements, as set out in section 4 of each Order or the Power and Water Corporation Notice.
We have prepared an issues register with AER responses to all issues raised during the consultation phase on the draft 2026-28 Annual Information Orders.
