Update – Application to reopen for capex – Project EnergyConnect

On 13 February 2026, Transgrid applied to the AER to revoke and substitute its electricity transmission revenue determination for the 2023–28 regulatory control period, to adjust total forecast capital expenditure (capex) approved for Project EnergyConnect (PEC) in our April 2023 final decision. 

Stakeholder submissions on Transgrid’s reopener application closed on 28 April 2026.

The AER intends to publish a document setting out initial positions on Transgrid’s application to reopen the 2023–28 transmission revenue determination for Project EnergyConnect. While this is not a legislated requirement for the reopener process, we consider that all stakeholders should have the opportunity to engage with our preliminary views. We have not yet determined the timing for this process step.
